Following the senseless tragedy in Virginia Tech, European papers across the continent blamed law abiding citizens, the founding fathers, the US Constitution, and even Charlton Heston for the massacre. While we should make every effort to prevent criminals from owning and carrying guns, no illegal action should ever impair our right to bear arms. Americans have a level of freedom that is unsurpassed in the world and our right to bear arms guarantees that freedom and keeps our citizens capable of defending their individual rights when confronted by terrorists and criminals.
