Martians in Global Warming Flap - Could Lose Ice Cap

"Scientists from Nasa say that Mars has warmed by about 0.5C since the 1970s. This is similar to the warming experienced on Earth over approximately the same period."

Is Science Becoming Religion?

"He said that scientific journals refused to take papers from scientists who doubted climate change."

Isn't the role of science to test out theories and look at problems from new perspectives?

It seems as if some political organizations and scientific groups want to vilify and marginalize anyone who disagrees (even if that disagreement is incremental rather than fundamental). I don't claim to be an expert on global warming any more than the Catholic Church is the authority on the solar system. I just don't want to persecute the next Galileo, even if he's not in this particular discussion.

POTUS Fred

"So is Thompson running?

'He will if people let him know they're hungry enough,' answered a positively ravenous Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Tex.).

It doesn't take an Arthur Branch -- that's the district attorney Thompson plays on "Law & Order," for pop-culture illiterates -- to discern that the hunger pangs say less about Thompson than about demoralized conservatives and their distaste for the others in the Republican presidential field."

Obama compares VPI tragedy to Imus

A further example that Barrack Obama is totally out of touch with America and is more interested in talking about the abstract than dealing with real people and real problems:

"There's also another kind of violence that we're going to have to think about. It's not necessarily the physical violence, but the violence that we perpetrate on each other in other ways."

Will Europe Infect the USA with fear?

Following the senseless tragedy in Virginia Tech, European papers across the continent blamed law abiding citizens, the founding fathers, the US Constitution, and even Charlton Heston for the massacre. While we should make every effort to prevent criminals from owning and carrying guns, no illegal action should ever impair our right to bear arms. Americans have a level of freedom that is unsurpassed in the world and our right to bear arms guarantees that freedom and keeps our citizens capable of defending their individual rights when confronted by terrorists and criminals.

Interesting Article on Abortion in the UK

"The swell of medical staff joining the unprecedented moral revolt means that there may soon not be enough doctors to carry out sufficient terminations to meet the public demand."

52.6 percent of Americans Receive Significant Income from Government

Slightly over half of all Americans – 52.6 percent – now receive significant income from government programs, according to an analysis by Gary Shilling, an economist in Springfield, N.J. That's up from 49.4 percent in 2000 and far above the 28.3 percent of Americans in 1950. If the trend continues, the percentage could rise within ten years to pass 55 percent, where it stood in 1980 on the eve of President's Reagan's move to scale back the size of government.

Excellent hard disk defragmenter

This program is really good. I don't know how often some of you defragment your hard drive, but it makes a difference if you cycle through a lot of files. This program is much more robust than the Windows defragmenter and is also much FASTER!

Ventre: Debate rages on for NBA's MVP - NBA - MSNBC.com

An excellent article about the type of player that is "most valuable." In a world where some leagues (read: NCAA) the highest honor is "most outstanding player" rather than "most valuable player," this article sheds some light on the process. I especially like the acknowledgment of what teammates, owners, fans, and players like. It probably is an article about people in general that we think are "valuable" instead of "outstanding."

Fred Thompson Gears Up - Politico.com

"If Thompson runs, he’s likely to stress his willingness to take on the biggest issues, including nuclear proliferation and the entitlement crisis, advisers said. 'People are disappointed that for the last two presidencies – almost 20 years now – we've seen people not held accountable and a cavalier attitude toward basic governmental responsibilities,' said the person who has talked to Thompson."
